FAQs

Can I put my Infrared Sauna outside?

Our indoor sauna range cannot be placed outside for 2 reasons.

1. The heaters will not be able to reach the desired temperatures due to colder outside environments.

2. The indoor saunas are not designed to withstand exterior weather conditions, so any damage to the structure caused by weather factors will not be covered by our Limited Lifetime Warranty.

How are our Clearlight® Sauna models different from other infrared saunas?

Our Clearlight® Sauna models are the only infrared saunas designed by a doctor. Dr. Raleigh Duncan has dedicated the last 20+ years to researching and developing technology to help heal the human body and he has been researching infrared therapy and its benefits for even longer.

Our years of manufacturing infrared saunas go into every Clearlight® Sauna model While our sauna cabins are exceptional quality, with hand sanded panels, high quality close grain wood and attention to detail, the therapeutic benefits are our main focus.

Our R&D department is always researching and testing new components for your sauna so when you buy a Clearlight® infrared sauna, you are buying the highest quality, most therapeutic infrared sauna available.

With our limited lifetime warranty for home use, we stand behind our saunas. This warranty covers the entire sauna; the wood cabin, heaters, controls and even the audio system. We will be here next year and five years from now should you need replacement parts or have any questions about the proper use or your sauna.
We believe that by committing to a lifetime warranty for our customers, it ensures that we build a high quality infrared sauna that will last. This informs every manufacturing decision we make as we know we will have to support your sauna for many years to come.

What’s the EMF in this Clearlight® Infrared Sauna?

EMF and ELF are important to us. 10 years ago we started producing heaters with the lowest possible EMF levels. Over time we’ve pioneered other technologies in this field and we’re proud to say that the EMF (and ELF levels) are perhaps the lowest on the market. When measuring directly on the far infrared heater the highest EMF level we could measure was 1.5 mG, which is by far below the WHO threshold of concern (3 mG). When only moving a few cm away this level literally drops to 0.

Besides the invention of our True Wave II heater technology, we also use metal conduit wiring, run several grounding wires, and have designed the sauna in a way that the exposure to both EMF and ELF is the absolute minimum possible. When measuring on the two powerful Full Spectrum Infrared Heaters in the front, you will measure a maximum of up to 7-8mG. When moving away only 10cm the levels drop to 0. As EMF reduces with distance, where you are sitting there is no EMF measurable.

How is my Clearlight® Sauna shipped, and will it be delivered into my house?

Your new Clearlight® Far Infrared Sauna will generally arrive at your home 4 – 7 days from the date it leaves our warehouse if the sauna is in stock. If it’s back ordered the waiting time can be up to 8 weeks.

As part of our commitment to exceptional customer service, we ship every Clearlight® Infrared Sauna with a few higher levels of service.

Our freight carrier will call to schedule an appointment to deliver your sauna, meaning your sauna will not arrive unexpectedly.

Your sauna will be delivered on a truck with a tail lift to ensure that any possibility of freight damage is minimised.

The delivery driver will move your sauna off of the truck and move it to an area of reach. It’s a kerbside delivery which means that the driver cannot carry the boxes inside your home, however the driver will move the pallet to a suitable location, which could be a garage or in front of your door step. Before accepting and signing for delivery, carefully inspect the damage. If there is any visible damage to take delivery but insist on noting this down on the delivery note. After that do contact one of our agents immediately.Take the boxes of the pallet, unpack each box carefully and start the installation using the provided manual. Installation will take between one to three hours, depending on the chosen model and size.

What does the warranty cover and how long is the warranty?

When buying an infrared sauna it is important to understand why a Limited Lifetime Warranty on the entire sauna is important. Our Limited Lifetime Warranty covers all of the parts and components of your sauna for manufacture defects for as long as you own it.

Almost every other infrared sauna is only covered under a 7-year warranty or less. If something goes wrong with your sauna in year 8 the manufacturer is not obligated to provide parts for saunas older than 7 years.

All Clearlight® Infrared Sauna® models installed for home use are covered by our Limited Lifetime Warranty. Your sauna is warranted to be free from manufacturer defects for as long as you own it.

Be sure to ask when researching infrared saunas if the company offers a True Limited Lifetime Warranty.

If you are using your sauna in a commercial environment, we offer a complete 5 year warranty.

How does a far infrared sauna work?

The idea behind infrared therapy is to heat your body directly with far infrared heat. In a traditional sauna you are just sitting in a hot room of 80°C-105°C. In an infrared sauna, the heat is heating your body directly and only 20% of the heat is heating the air.

You want to heat your body core, meaning your front core and your back core. Your body absorbs the infrared heat and reacts to it. The gentle infrared heat raise your core body temperature and stimulates your metabolism, lymphatic system, immune system and your cardiovascular system. Your body’s response to that is to sweat profusely. In addition to the infrared heat triggering a profuse sweat, the water in our bodies also resonates with far infrared heat and this also helps with the detoxification process.

With this in mind, you now understand why we stress the importance of having heaters all around you in an infrared sauna. If you do not have front heaters in your sauna, you will not raise your core body temperature as well and you will not receive as much of the desired effect.

All of our Clearlight® Infrared Saunas have heaters all around you… on your front, back, sides, calves and legs. We call this 360° heat.

Is infrared heat safe?

Infrared heat is completely safe and all objects give off and receive infrared heat. In fact, it is so safe, hospitals use similar heaters to warm newborns. Infrared is a part of nature and essential for life. The human body gives off and receives infrared in the far infrared band. When a mother rubs a babies stomach to relieve pain, it is the infrared heat from her hand that is causing the healing effect. We have tuned our True Wave heaters to give off far infrared in this same range for maximum absorption by your body and for maximum therapeutic benefits.

What type of infrared heater is best?

Far Infrared Heaters

When comparing far infrared sauna heaters you need to look at the size of the heater, the material that is producing the infrared heat, the quality of the heat and the surface temperature of the heater.

The two most common materials used in far infrared heaters are ceramic and carbon. Ceramic is a very efficient, effective material when heated to produce infrared heat. Ceramic has a very high emissivity rating, meaning it produces a lot of infrared heat. The drawback to ceramic heaters is that they tend to produce a shorter infrared wavelength. Shorter infrared wavelengths are not as readily absorbed by the human body so they are less therapeutic.

Generally speaking, Carbon infrared heaters produce a longer infrared wavelength. Carbon is very light so the heaters can be bigger and can run at a lower surface temperature. These low surface temperatures produce long wave infrared heat. Long wave far infrared heat is readily absorbed by the human body and will produce more desirable therapeutic results. The drawback of carbon heaters is that, while they produce high quality infrared heat, they do not produce a lot of infrared – they are weak. In technical terms, they have a lower emissivity rating as compared to ceramic heaters.

Most companies that use carbon heaters extend their heaters well up into the head region and almost to the ceiling in the sauna in an effort to try and get more heat into the sauna. They do this because of the low output of their heaters. This is wasted infrared heat as it is only heating the air over your head and not your body directly. We also believe heating the head directly is not recommended in infrared therapy.

Our True Wave™ far infrared heaters are the only infrared heaters that combine both carbon and ceramic into one heater for a truly exceptional infrared sauna experience. They are built by us and designed to heat the human body. True Wave™ Infrared Heaters produce the long wave infrared heat of a carbon heaters with the very high infrared output of a ceramic heater combined into one heater. It really is the best of both worlds and they are fantastic infrared heaters.

Within seconds of sitting in any Clearlight® Sauna model, you can feel the difference in the quality of the infrared heat. You will not find this heating technology anywhere else. It is exclusive to Clearlight® infrared saunas models.

Full Spectrum Infrared Heaters

A full spectrum infrared heater emits all three infrared wavelengths: near (IR-A), mid (IR-B) and far infrared (IR-C). Some infrared saunas offer a combination of heaters to produce full spectrum infrared heat. The sauna may have one heater that produces far infrared, one that produces mid infrared and one that produces near infrared.

You will also see some infrared saunas that use low wattage (10-40 watt) LED’s to produce near infrared. Our belief is that LED near infrared light therapy is very effective for topical infrared treatments however, it is not suited for the sauna environment. You want to put the LED’s directly on your skin. The DPL Nuve by LED Technologies is a great example of an effective FDA approved near infrared handheld device. With LED near infrared embedded in the wall of the sauna, you would have to climb up on the bench to receive effective therapy as the LED’s should be right up against the area you are treating.

Clearlight® Sanctuary Saunas utilize a halogen full spectrum heater. We have the halogen bulbs built to our specific wavelengths and standards. Our True Wave™ full spectrum infrared heaters emit about 1/3 near infrared, 1./3 mid infrared and 1/3 far infrared and each heater is a full 500 watts of full spectrum infrared heat.

By offering all three wavelengths the infrared heat will penetrate deeper past the Epidermis and Dermis into the Subcutaneous layer offering maximum effectiveness.

Do I receive constant heat from my Clearlight® Infrared Sauna?

Yes. The ideal way to use a Clearlight® Infrared Sauna is to have the infrared heaters on the entire time producing the optimal infrared heat you desire.

Infrared heat is most effective at lower temperatures as sweat oils secrete at lower temperatures and this sweat is different than water sweat. Your Clearlight® Infrared sauna is designed to heat your body more so than to heat the cabin (about 80% of the heat heats your body and 20% of the heat heats the sauna cabin).

Don’t be fooled by other manufacturers that offer constant infrared heat by reducing the output of their heaters. At the reduced output you are not receiving optimal infrared heat

What is the optimum infrared wavelength for an infrared sauna?

The infrared frequency of any infrared heater is determined by the surface temperature of the heater itself. The lower the surface temperature of the heater, the longer the infrared wave and the more beneficial the infrared heat will be.

Our large True Wave II™ heaters run at an optimal surface temperature producing exceptional quality far infrared heat. This means our heaters produce the majority of the infrared heat in the vital wave range of 5 to 15 microns with a good portion of wavelengths at 9.4, the optimal absorption range of far infrared by the human body.

Only Clearlight® Infrared True Wave II heaters combine the high infrared output of ceramic with long wave carbon infrared heat to produce the most effective infrared heaters available. You can only find this patented combination at Clearlight® Infrared Saunas!
