Understanding Sound, Frequency, Vibration and Resonance.

  1. Sound is what we hear when vibrations travel through the air and are picked up by our ears.
  2. Frequency refers to how often something happens, or how many times it repeats in a certain amount of time.
  3. Vibration is the movement or oscillation of energy within a substance.
  4. When two objects vibrate at the same frequency, they create resonance. This is why sound waves can cause things to vibrate – because they create a resonance between the object and the air around it.

What is Sound Healing?

Sound healing is a centuries-old technique that uses specific frequencies and sounds to heal the body. The human body is capable of absorbing and responding to vibration, and sound healing harnesses this natural ability to affect the vagus nerve with healing vibrations.

Although some people may be sceptical of its effectiveness, there is a growing body of evidence to support the use of vibration therapy for a variety of conditions.

The application of healing frequencies has shown promising results in animal studies for wound and bone healing, while for psychiatric issues, there have been promising results in both human studies and animal studies on the frequency of the effect on anxiety, depression and aggression.

What is the Difference: Music Therapy Vs Sound Healing?

The difference between the two is that music therapy uses a cacophony of frequencies and harmonies that trigger an emotional response, and is primarily used to treat a variety of mental disorders.

Sound healing, on the other hand, is the use of sound waves - such as the solfeggio frequencies - using a variety of tools, such as Tibetan singing bowls, vocal toning and binaural beats, to restore well-being within the body.

Simply put, music therapy utilises music, where sound healing utilises individual sounds.

What is Whole Body Vibration?

Whole-body vibration is when the entire body is exposed to vibrations. These vibrations cause a release of endorphins to improve mood, reduce stress, and promote relaxation. It is also used with the elderly to promote tendon, ligament and muscle strength, as well as bone density.

For example, the Chinese believed that different sounds can release energetic blockages to release tension. Indian culture believed that sound was a gateway to the spiritual world and that by using sound healing techniques, you can connect with the divine.

And in Ancient Egyptian, it was believed that music was an essential part of the afterlife journey.

How Does Sound Healing Work?

Sound healing works because our cells constantly vibrate at different frequencies, and these frequencies trigger different cellular functions.
